San Antonio and the Texas Hill Country have hundreds and hundreds of wedding venues to choose from – so where do you start? No but for real, just looking at The Knot, there are almost 1000 wedding venues that advertise between San Antonio, Austin, and the surrounding Hill Country. How’s a bride to choose?!
Read below on some of our tips for trimming down that giant list of places into one that will be the perfect place for “I do.”
San Antonio + Hill Country Wedding Venues
When you’re choosing the venue to celebrate your love story, there is a lot to take into consideration! Here are some of the things we think you should look into:
First, before you do anything else in your wedding planning, build your guest list! You need to determine if your venue can withstand the amount of people you’re looking to invite.
Prefer an intimate affair? We LOVE places like One Eleven East for this. You can be impactful and intentional with your designs, but still maximizing your budget at the same time.
If you are expecting a larger crowd, The Chandelier of Gruene boasts one of the largest occupancies, without losing its visual appeal! Check out some hotel ballrooms as well, which can often be expanded or made smaller with various air walls.
Another thing to think about when choosing your perfect wedding venue in Texas: are there good Plan B options? Whether you want to protect yourself from possible rain (hell, even snow!), you want to know your venue can still have a gorgeous secondary option. Be sure to ask about this at your tour! We have had to make that call numerous times, and are grateful our couples have places like Canyonwood Ridge or Park31 as a beautiful indoor backup. Having a great vendor team that can adapt quickly helps too!
Find the perfect San Antonio wedding venue
Have you already started a Pinterest board of what you want your dream wedding to look like? (We’re all guilty of that over here too!). Look into places that can fit the color scheme you’re envisioning, or that are beautiful on their own without needing a lot of extra decorations. We love places like Kendall Point, a stunning, neutral canvas that will work with literally any design you can imagine! Seriously, it’s the perfect starting point for your wedding planning & design!
Maybe you know you want something a little unique, or your style is more eclectic. One of our favorite new venues is Camino Real Ranch, located just outside of Austin, TX. The reception space for this venue is a greenhouse, and they have the cutest little quonset hut to greet all your guests as they arrive. Dare to be different!
Another thing to consider is location! Have you always dreamed of having a downtown wedding in the heart of the city? Places like Hotel Emma and The St. Anthony are iconic wedding venues in San Antonio. In addition to being located downtown, a hotel wedding at one of these venues will come with many amenities as well, making it even more desirable if you don’t want to have to stress about finding every.single.vendor. Wedding venues in Boerne, New Braunfels, the Hill Country
For so many couples getting married in the area, it is the city that they are wanting to escape! Give them rolling hills, ancient oak trees, and acres of gorgeous landscape and they’re sold! If you know you’ve always wanted to get married outdoors, The Oaks at Boerne is one of the most gorgeous places we can find! Just wait until you see that venue transformed at night – seriously STUNNING!
For some couples, they want to combine their love of the Hill Country but still feel as though they got that church wedding experience. Places like Chandelier of Gruene, The Allen Farmhaus, and Lost Mission still provide that chapel style ceremony space, without having to have your event at two locations. And yes, they all have a bell to ring!
Moral of the story? There are so.many.options. when it comes to choosing the perfect venue for you and your fiancé, but you have to first think about what’s important to you and go from there!
