I’ve been so excited to blog about Jaden + David’s hill country wedding at Park31 since the moment their day happened at that venue. A LOT led up to their wedding day, and while it may not have all happened the way they expected, it felt like it was exactly meant to be.
Jaden, a San Antonio police officer and David, an active duty military member have had their fair share of ‘life’ happen to them in their careers. The two met by chance one night when David was visiting friends in town and they immediately clicked. Within months they had picked out an engagement ring together and knew this was it!
Just over a month before their big day, Jaden was seriously injured in an accident while on duty. Responding to a call for backup, the suspect hit Jaden head on…going 90mph. To be quite honest it was a miracle she was there with us that day. She suffered two fractures in her femur and was unable to walk on her own, something this sweet bride would have never expected for her wedding day. I’ll never forget sitting down with them at the venue site visit weeks before their big day and Jaden expressed how she was grateful it was her that took the impact, and not another colleague or partner, because with her size she was more likely to have survived the crash.
These two, so strong in their faith, knew being able to celebrate their love with their family and friends was a blessing they wouldn’t take for granted. Jaden said it best herself, “In the end what made that day perfect was the radiant love of Christ. It wasn’t the dress or the cake. It was that the Lord had given us that day.”

We all watched (through many tears) as Jaden was carried down the aisle by her dad and stepdad to meet David. I remember when she made a comment to me in the planning process that, “God gave me two dads for a reason.” The resiliency and spirit she showed throughout the weeks leading up to their wedding was truly remarkable. And the way that David supported her was a testament to their love.
The two exchanged the most heartfelt vows, came together in worship, and created a ceremony that I was so proud to have been witness to.
Complete with an arch of sabers, the pair was officially husband and wife. Man did we all celebrate that moment!
I asked Jaden about some of her favorite details of the wedding. Her response was how much she loved the simplicity of the day. She wanted dainty decor with gold accents, simple winter greenery, and the cake topper paid homage to both their careers. It was the perfect winter wedding that focused on what they were there to celebrate: a new marriage.
Seeing Jaden and David smile and laugh throughout the evening was all I could have asked for as their planner. Also, fun fact: I was blessed to have worked with these two out of random chance. Their originally hired planner was unable to finalize their wedding, and she put us in contact and they allowed me to be a part of their day. That is something I will forever be grateful for.
Every wedding is unique. Each couple is different. Every wedding is beautiful. This one, though, is one that I want to never, ever forget. From the way their family and friends rallied around them in such a difficult season of life, to one of the best ceremonies I’ve been a part of. With the sweetest, most heartfelt speeches that had the room in laughter and in tears, and then seeing Jaden dance along with her friends all night long, walker in tow. These two did everything right🖤
And that, my friends, is what happily ever after looks like.
